In J. Parker’s devotional book on Intimacy Revealed: 52 Devotions to Enhance Sex in Marriage, she talks about how sex isn’t doing it’s job if you never feel that intense connection with your husband. God’s plan is that we experience that sense of oneness with each other, not just in marriage but through sex as well. Sex should be intimate. Two become one.
The relationship of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are interconnected, interwoven and three people in one. God desires that for marriages that a husband and wife are to be connected with each other. That they are joined together, two becoming one.
I do envision sex as a deeply intimate act. Although it doesn’t always feel that intimate all the time. We can foster that sense of oneness in the marriage bed, by picturing that, that it should be that intimate. That connection of two becoming one, just like in the eyes of the marriage, two people become one. That we can use the connection of the Holy Trinity in this area. We need to keep doing that, that our connection, not just physically but within our being as well.
