Beloved Marriage: Part III

The Beloved series was resumed at my mom’s group on Tuesday.  This week was how love is revealed.  It was good.

The cross  is the love from Christ’s death for our sins.  The cross is also about Jesus  teaching us and showing us how to love and grace to love as he did.

The marital ring is to remind you of your beloved’s promise of love and fidelity through good and bad times, in sickness and in health in all the days of our lives.  It’s a sign of the marital covenant where two people become one flesh.   It’s a sacred promise of Jesus’s love and fidelity and divine life.  That we are one with Jesus.

The marital vows that we make with our beloved is Jesus.   It’s Jesus through  Free, Total,  Faithful and Fruitful.   Jesus is Free because of his love for us and his death for our sins.  He is total because he was transparent  and gave us everything.   Jesus is faithful because he still loves us when we turn away from him too.  He is fruitful through his death which resulted in the birth of the Church.

All of this is a great reminder of how our marriage should be through God.  God is the center of our marriage.  That we should love each other as Christ did for his Church.   That we are to carry the cross for our beloved, in laying down our life for them and Jesus.   That we should always wear our rings all the time (which I do, and so does my husband) and remember daily of the vows that we made for them and keep it true to its  promise.  God witnessed our marriage and he continues to witness us as we journey through it together.  Hand in Hand.
