In this week’s devotional via J. Parker’s book on Intimacy Revealed:52 Devotions to Enhance Sex in Marriage, it’s about past sexual sins. One of God’s gifts to us is healthy sexuality in our marriage. J. Parker reminds us that we have been “washed, sanctified, and justified” meaning that this was in the past, and this is now (Parker, 84).
We have committed sexual sins in the past. We engaged in pre-marital sex with each other and I have with two other people prior to my husband as well. We’ve watched pornography. We’ve lusted at other people with our minds with people we know. We’ve gone to strip clubs in the past. I did infidelity. We have confessed those sins and repented those with each other and God. We’ve learned to bless our sexual intimacy in our marriage by believing that we can keep it pure and clean. Prayers to God and allowing God into our sex life has surely helped and keeping the transparent communication line open with each other with our sexual struggles and thoughts too. God has definitely blessed our marriage more in this area now more so than it was when we were first married 10 years ago.
