Faith & Provision: Courageous (Week 1)

I’ve dived in another four week bible study lead by Darlene Schacht over at Time Warp Wife.  She has titled her bible study as Faith and Provision.     Now, Faith was my one word last  year in 2015, but there is nothing wrong in going deeper with the word faith.

Last week was about Faith being courageous.  We find out that God does rewards people who do serve Him.   There is a really good scripture from the bible about having faith and being courageous at the same time.   It is found in Deuteronomy 31:6.

Be strong and be brave.  Don’t be afraid of those people because the Lord  your God is with you. He will not fail you or leave you.”

I did some reading in Acts where I saw Paul and Silas in prison.   It is stressed that you believe in Jesus and that you will be saved.   Faith in this reading was exercised through songs of praise and prayer.  God tests us through trials and it will prove how much we have faith in Him.  God is always near us for everything.  We can find joy and peace in everything we do and pray to God to work in us.  God is greater than any storm. We have the choice  to win by choosing Him over everything.  Courage is the true example of faith.

We learn in Genesis where Abraham is tested.   He was tested to kill his son to see if he would obey the Lord. God saw that  he was willing to make that sacrifice so he stopped Abraham.   It was His lesson to see if Abraham’s heart was for Him.   You are to always put your heart for the Lord before yourself.  The Lord guides us in how to serve through family and friends.  Strong faith is exercised through trials and hard services. We are to attend the Lord without any distractions. We are to part with our sins for Christ willingly and cheerfully.

In Joshua, Rehab hides the spies.  Rehab had the faith in the Lord that she lied to the King about the spies.  She knew God was with her.  He kept her and the spies safe from the King.  We don’t see God’s work until we trust in Him.  We are to apply God’s wisdom from the Bible into our lives.  Only trust myself and God.  Allow Him to intervene especially in wrong times. God will seek  justice to those who need it.  It is our duty to tell those about the truth in God. That Evil is bad.  That we aren’t to follow Satan. Only God himself.  Lying is a sin but God accepts what is sincere and honest.  If we want His eternal love, we are to devote ourselves to God and His people.   Saving of our house means having faith in Christ and that alone will bring salvation from Him.

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God…Romans 10:17.
