The Church and It’s Importance

I was back with my Mom’s group at the Church on Tuesday after a long Christmas break.  We were supposed to resume two weeks ago, but everyone had bad weather and so the session was cancelled.   We talked about the Church.  Basically as to why we need it.  The need for it is important.  This was explained thoroughly via the Symbolon dvd.

The Church is both human and divine. It is visible and invisible.  The visible portion of the church is human leadership through Jesus and his 12 apostles.

The Church is a common worship. It has a common set of beliefs. It teaches all nations.  The Church has 3 elements of unity.  Its unity is through worship, belief and leadership.

The Church has four marks that are one, holy, catholic and apostolic. It is one because Jesus is one with the Father and so are we to Jesus as well.  It is holy because Christ is the head of it and we are the members.  It is catholic because  it is universal and it has fullness.  Christ is present worldwide. It is apostolic through the bishops and the pope.  It has an unbroken line back to Jesus’ apostles.

The Church is the super national family of God.  It accomplishes plan of salvation.  The bonds of the church is through leadership, common worship and common teaching. It is a community of believers.  The church helps us stay connected with Jesus and it is a family itself. We are a family with everyone that believes and lives life to be like Christ.

Want to share this following scripture to end this off well 🙂

I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”- John 15:5-7
